In 2024, Ukraine produced more than 1,000,000 FPV drones. The impact that they have had has changed the way that Ukraine has worked to generate Combined Arms. Their ability to put anti-tank systems down to the section level in great numbers in an easily employed manner has threatened the primacy of tank’s ability to manoeuvre.

David Hambling writes about FPVs still being the most lethal threat to A vehicles on the battlefield. A study of T-90M tank losses suggests that FPVs were likely the most common cause of Russian tank losses in the Q4 of 2024.
It does highlight that most of the losses occurred in the offence, rather than the defence, so potentially static EW platforms are more successful at protecting vehicles than the onboard mounted systems.
