This is Part I of our look at Lord Horatio Nelson and the practice of Mission Command.
We look at his early career in the Royal Navy and as we look for clues about how he developed a philosphy for leadership and command that is very similar to Mission Command, even though he died on HMS Vicotry at the Battle of Trafalgar 1 year before the twin defeats of Jena and Auerstadt that are often looked as at the birth of Mission Command in the Prussian Army.
